BRAD RENFRO  (1982-2008)

Brad Renfro is one of the Hollywood’s Childstar in the 90’s. siguro comparable siya kay Patrick Garcia dito sa pinas. He is one of the Ultimate Crush ng Ate kO! I remeber she had poster of Brad Renfro with Devon Sawa sa Wall namin nung mga bata pa kami. Not quite a shock, kasi tagal niya ring nawala sa Hollywood scene but we are shocked in a way kasi the actor was once loved by the fans and admirers (isa na dun ang ate ko!).

The News:

Renfro was found dead on January 15, 2008 in his Los Angeles apartment, after he had reportedly spent the previous night drinking with friends. The cause of death has yet to be determined. He is survived by one son, known only as “Y Renfro”.

NOW, THE SHOCKING ONE…….. (I’m a Fan of His……Shet!! why?!!)

(April 4, 1979 – January 22,2008)

Heath Ledger was an Academy Award Nominated Australian Actor. He Developed an early Hollywood Carreer. He Starred in both Critical and Financial Success Films including The Patriot, Monster Ball and the Highly acclaimed and Praised movie of 2005, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Ledger also completed his production for the forthcoming and most awaited film, THE DARK KNIGHT which he plaed as The JOKER.

He starred in The Patriot, Monster’s Ball, A Knight’s Tale, The Four Feathers, Ned Kelly, The Order, and The Brothers Grimm. In 2001, he won a ShoWest Award for the Male Star of Tomorrow based on his performance in The Patriot, and worldwide release of A Knight’s Tale. In 2003, he was named one of Australian GQ’s Men of the Year for acting.

In 2005, Ledger received a Best Actor in a Drama Golden Globe nomination for his acclaimed performance in Brokeback Mountain, in which he plays Wyoming ranch hand Ennis Del Mar, who has a love affair with aspiring rodeo rider Jack Twist, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. In the New York Times review of the film, critic Stephen Holden wrote:

“Both Mr. Ledger and Mr. Gyllenhaal make this anguished love story physically palpable. Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”

In another review in Rolling Stone, Peter Travers wrote:

“Ledger’s magnificent performance is an acting miracle. He seems to tear it from his insides. Ledger doesn’t just know how Ennis moves, speaks and listens; he knows how he breathes. To see him inhale the scent of a shirt hanging in Jack’s closet is to take measure of the pain of love lost.”

Ledger received “Best Actor of 2005” awards for Brokeback Mountain from both the New York Film Critics Circle and the San Francisco Film Critics Circle. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance. In the same year, Ledger played a fictionalized version of Giacomo Casanova in Casanova. The film, a romantic comedy which co-starred Sienna Miller, drew mixed reviews from critics and failed to find a significant audience among general moviegoers.

In 2006, Ledger was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2007, he was one of six actors to portray different sides of singer Bob Dylan in the film I’m Not There.

On July 21, 2006, Ledger was officially confirmed to play iconic comic book villain The Joker in The Dark Knight, the sequel to the 2005 film Batman Begins, opposite fellow I’m Not There star Christian Bale. The film is set to debut on July 18, 2008.

The film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, in which he had been cast, was in production at the time of his death.

Ledger was found dead in his fourth floor apartment at 421 Broome Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on January 22, 2008. Ledger’s body was found at 3:26 p.m. EST by a housekeeper and a massage therapist, who entered the bedroom to find him face down, naked, and unconscious at the foot of his bed with sleeping pills on a nearby night table. Police found more prescription medication in the bathroom but did not find any illegal drugs. In the weeks before his death, Ledger had been taking Ambien, a sleeping tablet that has reportedly caused bizarre behaviour and deaths.

In reaction to his death, former partner Michelle Williams was reported as saying that she was “devastated” at the loss and had boarded a plane to New York City. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd released a statement saying, “It was with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Heath Ledger… It is tragic that we have lost one of our nation’s finest actors in the prime of his life.”

Pinoy Celebrity Urban Legends

8 01 2008

Here are six incredible and even preposterous urban legends on local celebrities:

1. Snake CharmerFirst heard: Late ’80s.The lowdown: Robina Gokongwei has a twin, a giant serpent, whose secret lair is located beneath Robinson’s Galleria. When it’s time to feed the snake, a trapdoor opens in one of the Galleria’s fitting rooms, sending one unlucky shopper down through a maze of pipes and into the snake-pit. One day, Alice Dixon was in the wrong fitting room at the wrong time. Lucky for her, the serpent fell in love with her and decided to let her go.Truth factor: As likely as Alice resurrecting her career.

2. Lightbulb MomentFirst heard: Late ’80s.The lowdown: Richard Gomez is Jaime Zobel de Ayala’s paid lover. In the course of one intercourse, Zobel shoved a light-bulb up Goma’s rectum because he’s that kinky. Unfortunately, the glass broke and poor Goma had to be rushed to the emergency room.Truth factor: C’mon. Zobel, with all his riches, can afford to buy a titanium dildo. You actually think he’d use some cheap store-bought bulb?

3. The Elevator IncidentFirst heard: Early-to-mid ’00s.The lowdown: Ting. Elevator door opens. In walks Gretchen Baretto, also known to her family as Satan, and her entourage of yayas and bodyguards. Another woman enters the elevator right after her. Deeming the woman unfit to be sharing the same space as her (and her Bulgari jewels), La Gretta proclaimed, “please tell this woman to get off my elevator”, to which the woman retorted, “please tell this woman to get off my building.” It turns out that the woman is Mrs. Yuchencho, a member of the clan who owns RCBC plaza. Exit la Gretta.Truth factor: Smoke, fire, you know the cliche. Plus, she doesn’t really hide the fact that she’s an uber-bitch.

4. Miss Hooker WorldFirst heard: Mid ’90s.The lowdown: Ruffa Gutierrez may have lost the prized Miss World crown in 1993, but her exposure in that pageant helped turn her into a globe-trotting, world-class prostitute. With her mom as pimp, Ruffa snagged high-paying clients and eventually, settled down with Turkish mobster, Ylmaz Bektas.Truth factor: You know there’s a little truth to it when the source is your distinguished law professor.

5. Pinay Winona RyderFirst heard: Mid ’00s.The lowdown: Pretty, fair and demure Lucy Torres is a shoplifting freak. Her thievery has escalated to the point that she can’t shop without being followed by an assistant who pays for every item she’s lifted. A security camera at Rustan’s captured Lucy doing the Winona hand-trick and the footage found its way to the desk of Karen Davila. The Kapamilya station agreed not to air the video in exchange for unknown favors from Goma.Truth factor: There’s something quite off with Lucy. Maybe this is it?

6. Death in Dos PalmasFirst heard: 2002The lowdown: On March 29, 2002, at the Dos Palmas resort in Palawan, bedimpled matinee idol Rico Yan, now Saint Rico, died due to “cardiac arrest following a rupture of the pancreas.” Those in the know, however, claim that Rico overdosed with a cocktail of illegal drugs and that on the night of his death, Rico banged a hooker who was delivered and paid for by his dear friends, Dominic Ochoa and Jana Victoria.Truth factor: Isn’t it a little strange that they didn’t release his autopsy report? Hmm.

may lam ka pa?! share ka naman! hahaha! Ok?!
